How to make Silk Wide Headband

Working with some beautiful silk this week and the results almost justify the price paid per metre (!) for this lovely weight silk fabric, an absolute pleasure to work with and I love the soft colour. I handmade the bias binding that they are made out of first up in one sitting - only 24 mtrs ! then all were hand sewn over a couple of days - only 50 ! very glad to see the end of these bands but very happy with the results.

Hi Julie,

I am a millinery student and have been searching high and low for a method to cover headbands without glue as I find it ends up with creases on the interior when using a lightweight silk satin. Can I ask what type of fabric you have used on the interior?

Many Thanks!

Stacey

Hey Stacey, this is a heavy weight silk and as the fabric is so thick and lux it virtually makes itself, I suggest you try a silk with more weight, cheers JULIE

Hi Julie, I know this tutorial is old, but I have been trying to figure out how to create wide headbands like like. What do you have as the structure? Is it really thick millinery wire? Ribbon wire? Thanks for your help.
